Meet Doreen MH, a stunning 13-year-old warmblood mare known around the barn as “The Queen”—and she definitely lives up to her title. Ridden by Taylor Abraham, Dory currently resides in Aiken, South Carolina, where she trains with Cathy Cram.

With her regal attitude and confident presence, Dory knows she’s something special—and she absolutely is. “She’s known as the queen of the barn and she knows it!” Taylor shares.

One of Taylor’s most cherished memories with Dory was their very first Big Eq class in Florida. “She was so confident and the best partner. She even won it!” It was a moment that marked the beginning of a powerful bond and a partnership built on trust.

Dory came into Taylor’s life thanks to her trainer, who discovered her in Chicago. “We flew up to ride her and a few other horses, but she stood out by far. From the moment I sat on her, I knew she would take care of me.”

Her favorite treat? Dory loves peppermints—but truthfully, she’ll happily take just about any treat she’s offered.

“I started riding in San Antonio, TX at the age of 5 using a bareback pad,” Taylor recalls. That love for riding eventually led her to pursue English riding and jumping, and eventually to Aiken, SC, where she could take the sport more seriously. “My favorite thing about owning horses is the special bond you create with them,” Taylor says—and with Dory, that bond is pure magic.
