Dallas Horse Portraits | Leaps the Hanoverian
Leaps, Great Leaps, is a Hanoverian Gelding. He is out of Gasparo.
Leaps is a very mare-ish gelding that plays like a Lab puppy on the ground he is convinced that he is half pig if there is mud to be found. Keli got him when he was 8 months under saddle and he has taught Keli so much and learned with her since 2000. He tends to look half asleep while getting ready to work but when in work grows 10 feet tall and has an endless desire to work and please.
He has a true heart of gold and is a joy to be with and ride.
Keli has schooled Grand Prix Movements and shown to PSG. The pair is one score away from their Silver Medal.
Leaps was bred by a client of Keli’s mom who was suffering from terminal cancer. She was selling everything to buy a Grand Prix horse to ride before she died. They bought him January 1st, 2000 and he has been with Keli since. His former owner did get to rider her Grand Prix test before she passed away less than six months after selling leaps. The first time Keli rode him all she could say was, “Wow, this is a dream!”
This Unicorn of a horse loves Carrots and Apples.
Keli bought her first horse when she was 8 years old for $500, a 2 year old unbroken Quarter Horse. She shares, “Horses are the best therapy and sanctuary from the world. Horses show you what you need to see about yourself, life, and others. They show only the truth and if you listen, they tell you how to be a better person.”
Many of you probably know Keli because she is the fabulous braider. She says “Be kind to your braider, don’t ever take scissors to manes!”
