Paris, or Paris Charm, is a bold and beautiful 14-year-old Welsh pony with a big presence and an even bigger personality. She’s ridden by Currie Cooper, who trains with Richard Cunkle in Wellington, Florida.
Paris is not your typical cuddly pony. She has opinions—and she’s not afraid to share them. “She doesn’t love most people,” Currie admits. “If she doesn’t like you, you’ll know.” But their bond runs deeper than first impressions. While Paris doesn’t usually tolerate hugs, she now lets Currie give them to her, a sign of the trust they’ve built together. Over the last year, the two have created a connection that’s strong, special, and completely on Paris’ terms.
One of their most unforgettable moments together came at Pony Finals 2023. It was only Currie’s second time showing Paris. “I didn’t know her that well yet,” Currie shares. “I was nervous… and we won.” That victory marked the beginning of something truly magical.
Their story began at Devon, where Currie first tried Paris. Even then, Paris was selective—she chooses her people, and not everyone makes the cut. But after waiting and watching, Currie’s family leased Paris following Pony Finals. “I’m lucky she picked me,” Currie says.
Paris has a no-nonsense attitude, but underneath it is a pony with heart and grit. She loves carrots—simple, classic, and straight to the point, just like her. And though she may seem guarded at first, for the ones she trusts, she gives her all.
Currie began riding at age 6 in Alabama. A turning point came when the family purchased a pony named Snowy from Richard Cunkle—and Currie’s training journey with Richard began. Now, Currie regularly travels from Alabama to Wellington to ride and train.

Portraits for Charity was an idea Karinda dreamt up to help give back to families impacted by Childhood Cancer in memory of her husband’s sister Jessica.
