Sassy, Sassy Lil’ Dreamer, is a near leopard Appaloosa Mare. She is a granddaughter of Dreamfinder. She was bred by Brenda Thompson.
Emily, Sassy’s owner, does both Western and Dressage with this gorgeous leopard Appaloosa. I absolutely love her coloring pattern it is so unique, you can read more about different Appaloosa coloring patterns here. Emily grew up riding her entire life, but Sass was the very first horse that she bought and owned as an adult. She purchased Sassy as a 4 year old that was about to turn 5 and had her hauled down to Corpus Christi,TX where she now resides. They train with Chloe Cosgrove of CEC Elite Training.
In a scary turn of events she lost her job shortly after the purchase, and had to face the decision of if she wanted to follow through with the purchase or if she would need to back out. I think it’s safe to say that she made the right choice by following through because this girl is something special. Emily said, “I was urged by family and friends to keep my word and I did. I worked with her every day for 6 months while was looking for a job. She was my saving grace and got my through a rough time. She came into my life because someone didn’t have the time to dedicate to her and here I suddenly had all the time in the world. It was the best thing that could have ever happened .. to both of us. 6 months and many rides later, my old company hired me back and I still work with them and her … :)”
Sassy, is well, Sassy just like her name, and she loves her carrots. Not just any carrots, but she prefers them fresh, you know straight out of the garden fresh!
It truly is amazing how a horse can have such a huge impact on our lives. I think we all have those moments where they save us. I think Emily put into words exactly what owning a horse is truly all about.
