RDL SPIRITO | 1.5 YEAR OLD WARLANDER GELDING | WALLER,TX

SJ, RDL Spiritio, is a Warlander. He is half Friesian and half Andelusian. His sire is Saltador Oro, and his Dam is Quintessa.  SJ was bred by Walter Henslee of Rancho de Lago. A Warlander is a Friesian horse that is crossed with an Iberian horse like an Andalusian or Lusitano. After researching these horses a bit on my own I am in awe of how gorgeous so many of these Warlander horses are.

SJ was one of the first of Amy’s Horses that I photographed when I visited her farm, Red Shadows Ranch, in Waller,TX. I first met Amy through Fran Dearing at Windy Knoll Farm and I had only gotten to meet a few of her horses so I was super excited to visit her farm and meet all of her gorgeous horses.

SJ is the half brother to one of Amy’s other horses, Ace, and they are very much goofy and playful guys and take after each other. Since Ace is one of Amy’s younger horses he is not yet started under saddle, but I can promise you this from the little bit of time I got to hang around this cute guy, he is going to be quite the gentleman under saddle.

Amy found SJ while visiting the Rancho del Lago website, and went to see him. The next week he was all hers, and the rest is history!

When I asked Amy to describe him in one word she said “Goofball 2,” I’m guessing, Goofball 1 is Ace.

Amy says that having horses “keeps us young!” I think after the past few weeks I have had with my horses, I would have to disagree, I think they are aging me with all of the stunts they have been pulling in this cold weather!

I love Amy’s story about when Ace first arrived at the farm! “When he first came to the farm, he was not spooky but if he was afraid of something he would plant his feet and not move. He was especially afraid of shadows, I thought he was blind. He was not blind just needed some reinforcement that it was ok!”Houston Equine Photographer | Karinda K Texas Equine Photography | equine.test.karindak.comTexas Equine Photographer | Karinda K Texas Equine Photography | equine.test.karindak.com
