ZoeAnn horse resides at Lakeside Farm in Goshen, KY. The farm is directly across from Hermitage Farms.  Smoke(Delight’s Smokin Dude) is a 23 year old Tennessee Walking Horse that Zoe enjoys hitting the trail with… whether that be away from home or just around the farm. They love bonding over a good grooming session.

It is a satisfying thing to be able to work on a hard to catch horse. Smoke was one of those horses that had to learn that lesson the slow and hard way. Though it is so time consuming to get these horses to see that the owner is not only Alpha but also friend, the hard work eventually pays off. Luckily Zoe also had a friend to support and help her with one of Smoke’s biggest growth areas. This friend was a natural hoof trimmer and together they worked hours to show Smoke he had nothing to fear and that he needed to listen. After what seemed like decades of pasture round-penning(most of us have experienced this at least once… some on a daily basis…lol) Smoke realized that it was a losing battle and his inevitable truth was that he would, in fact, be haltered. It is like “Murphy’s Horse Law” that these hard to catch horses are also hyper sensitive to the times you are in a hurry. Stinkers. And even though he has to daily overcome his stubborn side Zoe reminds us he is a brave sweetheart on the trail where nothing phases him. Together they master water, hills and trees effortlessly.

About 5 years ago their dog groomer asked if she wanted to come ride one of their two horses… she had needed to sell one. When she rode Smoke, she fell in love with his fast gait and his beautiful black color and bought him right away- quirks and all. 

“I love to trail ride- being out in nature on his back feels like heaven to me. My favorite thing about him is that he is mine.”
