Zina, Valenzia, is a beautiful Westphalian mare. Stephanie Dixon trains with Neal and Licha Shapiro.
Zina is the ultimate “mama bear” of the barn—calm, steady, and endlessly reliable. Whether she’s heading into the ring or hitting the road for a new show, she keeps her cool and takes care of her rider every step of the way. You can take her anywhere and trust that she’ll handle it all with grace and confidence.
Stephanie imported Zina sight unseen as a barely broke 4-year-old, and the pair have now been together for 10 incredible years. Stephanie and her mom went to visit her in quarantine after the purchase—and were both shocked to find that Zina was huge! It was a moment they’ll never forget, and it marked the beginning of a decade-long partnership.
Originally, Stephanie was planning to purchase a gelding, but when that deal fell through, a broker’s partner introduced her to Zina—and the rest is history.
Their favorite treat? Sugar cubes—classic and sweet, just like her.
Horses have been a part of Stephanie’s life for over 30 years, thanks to her mom who got her started young. One of her favorite things about horse ownership is the connection: that unmistakable moment when you walk into the barn and your horse nickers just for you.

Portraits for Charity was an idea Karinda dreamt up to help give back to families impacted by Childhood Cancer in memory of her husband’s sister Jessica.
