Meet Niko, the 10-year-old Chihuahua. Niko has a brown coat with white paws and a white star on his chest. Niko is owned and adored by Caira Adams, who may sound familiar. The Adams Family is no strangers to family pets. Caira has a horse, Presley, and her mom has a dog, Nala, who you will also read about in our book!

Caira found Niko in Mansfield, Texas at an Animal Rescue Center. To say it was love, at first sight, would be an understatement! When Caira came across Niko at the Rescue Center she couldn’t help but feel the need to take him home and so she BEGGED her parents. Crying to them explaining how he needed a loving home (who could say no to that!?), well after being given a stern “No!” from her parents, she found him under the Christmas tree a week later! She shares that it was truly one of the best Christmases ever! 

Niko loves to snuggle on your chest and always has to be under a blanket. He is a huge cuddler.

Niko loves Cheez-It. 

Caira shares, “Niko is my best friend and I don’t know what I would do without him, he filled the hole in my heart I didn’t know I had.” It is truly magical that these animals, big or small, can come into our lives and fill voids we never even knew we had. They become such companions and huge parts of our lives. It’s important to cherish these incredible ones for all they are and all they give us. Doing so by having their portraits done is a wonderful way to ensure this. We all love our horses, but I know we sure do love our dogs, cats, birds, donkeys, goats…ALL the animals!!
