Horatio, also known as Tio, is a 12-year-old KWPN gelding with a sweet soul and a gentle presence. He is ridden by Laura Packer, who trains with Adam Sklansky at Blackjack Farms.
Tio is the kind of horse that knows exactly how to tug at your heartstrings. After every ride, he “asks” for his well-earned cookie—a little routine that has become their special ritual. He’s kind, reliable, and quietly affectionate, with a natural charm that’s impossible to resist.
Laura first met Tio during a trial ride in January of this year, and it didn’t take long to know he was “the one.” “He was so kind and exactly what I needed,” she recalls. It was one of those rare, instant connections where both horse and rider just fit—a quiet certainty that this was the right match.
Laura has been riding for over 20 years, and horses have been a part of her life just as long. More than ribbons or accolades, what she cherishes most is the partnership she builds with each horse. “I love just spending time with them,” she shares. That quiet time, those small routines, and that bond—that’s what makes horses like Tio unforgettable.
