Diara Rouge—lovingly called Diara, Mama D, or simply Big D—is a stunning 13-year-old Oldenburg mare ridden by Campbell Hudkins, who trains with Stonehenge Stables and Windsor Show Stables.

Playful and full of personality, Diara is impossible not to love. She’s always moving, always engaged, and always curious—with big, expressive ears that give away every thought. She’s the kind of horse who instantly becomes the heartbeat of the barn.
This mare holds a truly special place in Campbell’s heart. Their partnership began in 2019, when Campbell was just 12 and Diara was 7. At the time, she was leased for the children’s jumper division, eventually helping Campbell step up to their first 1.20m class. In November 2021, Diara officially became Campbell’s own, just one week before they made the top 24 at their very first Maclay Finals—a huge milestone for both horse and rider.
“She is the first horse under my name,” Campbell shares, “which makes her 10x more special.” Since then, Diara has been the steady presence through all the major equitation finals: USET, Medal Finals, and Maclay Regionals, where they recently placed 3rd. Now in Campbell’s final equitation season, Diara is the partner making it all count.
“She’s my steady eddie, and my constant source of joy,” Campbell says. “This horse means the world to me.”

Their journey started thanks to Campbell’s aunt, who found Diara. It was love at first ride. After two years of leasing, Campbell’s family knew she was the one, and they made her part of the family.
And of course, Diara has a favorite treat: Nature Valley granola bars—crunchy, sweet, and apparently perfect for a horse with big energy and an even bigger heart.
Campbell has been riding since the age of 3, following in the footsteps of a family deeply rooted in the horse world. With Diara by her side, she’s experienced the highs of equitation sport and built a bond that will last a lifetime.
