Hammy, Daham, is a beautiful Selle Français gelding ridden by Reagan Williams of RPW Show Horses and trains with Daniel Geitner.
Hammy is the definition of a gentle soul. Known around the barn for being the sweetest, he has one particularly adorable quirk—he loves his stall door open and will push it right back open anytime someone tries to close it! He’s full of personality, endlessly kind, and always asking for a treat or a cuddle—especially if it includes a kiss on the nose.
Every time Reagan enters the ring with Hammy, she feels nothing but trust and gratitude. “He’s the horse I can always count on,” she says. From standout memories like Harrisburg 2023 and 2024 to the everyday joy of riding him, Hammy has become an irreplaceable part of her life. “He’s one of the most special horses I’ve ever owned.”
Interestingly, Hammy wasn’t a planned addition to the team. Reagan had just retired her children’s jumper and wasn’t actively searching—until she came across a few sale horses at Split Rock in 2022. After trying several, none quite felt like “the one” until she swung a leg over Hammy. He was the last horse of the day, and from the very first trot, she knew he was something special.
His favorite treat? Carrots—though he’s a bit picky with other snacks. Still, he’ll try to convince you to give him one any time of day. Eating, sleeping, and being perfect are his full-time jobs.
At just 17 years old, Reagan has already been riding for 10 years. She got her start thanks to a friend and a summer horse camp—where she actually broke her arm but was still hooked on riding! Her favorite thing about her horses? “They try so hard for me and always keep me safe. I couldn’t trust the horses I have right now more.”
