Meet CCF Solomon Sea, “Solito”, a 10-year-old American Warmblood who was bred at Cross Creek Farms in California. Solito is a gentle giant standing at 17hh. He is owned and ridden by Caroline Daskevich who trains with brother and sister Frankie and Whitney Owens at Oakwell Farms in San Antonio, TX.

Caroline recently purchased Solito and has owned him now for about 6 months. She actually purchased him from a pair of girls who recently moved to Oakwell Farms from the area that he was from and they had owned him ever since he was young. Caroline shares that she has appreciated getting to know his full background and everything about him from them as well.

“When I first met him, I quickly realized that he had one of the goofiest personalities ever, only next to my other horses at the time. I think that’s when I knew that he could stick around. I haven’t had Solito for very long, but going to Ocala with him this past January and experiencing the process of figuring him out is something that I’ve really enjoyed. He is super weird. He slobbers everywhere, all the time. After every trip or course we do, I’m covered in slobber. He also likes to grab onto anything he can find and he begs for treats by turning his head to the side and looking cute…which obviously always works. He’s slightly picky, but he does like granola bars and pop tarts.”, shares Caroline.

Caroline shares that she’s been riding since before she could walk. “My grandmother grew up riding and sat me on a horse the minute she could get her hands on me. It definitely stuck and it’s something I’ll never be able to shake. I love horses because you get out what you put in. The work is there for you to do, you just have to do it. The reward depends on the bond between you and the animal which is something so unique from any other team or individual sport. I love getting to know an animal like a person, only it takes more time to really build a relationship and trust.”
