RIGHT OF CONQUEST | 16 YEAR OLD THROUGHBRED GELDING | LEXINGTON,KY

Beamer, Right of Conquest, is a 16 year old Thoroughbred Gelding. He is out of Maefara, she ran in the Breeders Cup Springt in 1992 and 1993 and lost by just a head in both years. His sire was Capote who stood at Three Chimneys. He was bred by Frank Muench, and trained by his son David at the track.

This big boy’s personality certainly matches his big size. He has so many quirks, and loves things that other horses are often turned off by like water, dogs, and being clipped. Jenn, Beamer’s owner, shared that he loves to swim, get baths, or just play in puddles. If he is near a creek he loves to go splash around, and will even paw in the wash rack until you let him put the water in his face. Jenn’s dog and Beamer have quite the unique relationship, this 15 pound terrier can even ride on his back, and often times will sleep in his stall. Now, I can attest after having horses for many years that horses don’t necessarily love to be clipped, but most will tolerate it. Jenn said as soon as the clippers are turned on he will push his muzzle against the clippers.

The pair does hunters. Jenna’s favorite thing about riding him is that she can trust him 100%. She never has to worry about anything or be scared when she is on his back. This boy loves to jump, he has even been known to jump the jumps in the arena if he is turned out in an arena with jumps.

Jenn first met Beamer in 2007 when his previous owner was boarding him at a barn where Jenn was taking lessons. In January of 2008 Jenn was looking for a horse to lease and her trainer recommended Beamer. Jenn fell in love instantly even though he was still very green. Jenn ended up leasing him until she was given the option to buy him that March. Jenn purchased him on March 26th, and when she received his Jockey Club Papers a few weeks later, she realized that she had actually bought him on his 7th Birthday.  The pair has been inseparable since then, Beamer even made the trip from Florida to Kentucky when Jenn started school at the University of Kentucky.

This curious boy gets into everything! Instead of running away when he gets scared, he wants to walk up and touch it. His favorite treated include glazed donuts (which he received as his reward after his pictures) and vanilla cupcakes. Oh, and he gets donuts once a week.

in 2013 at the National Horse Show, Beamer was a part of the rider swap. He and his rider that day (who was actually a saddlebred trainer) ended up winning.

Jenn started riding and taking lessons when she was 8. She wanted to start riding so her parents signed her up, even though they are not horse people. Beamer is Jenn’s first horse, and she has owned him since she was 16.

“One of my favorite memories with Beamer (other than horse shows) would be dressing him and my dog up for a Halloween party at the barn a few years ago. They were batman (Tucker, my dog) and Robin (Beamer). Everyone loved it! Beamer wore a mask and cape and went bobbing for apples.”
