Nugget, S&L Nougat Van’t Leeuwerikenhof Z, is a beautiful 10-year-old Zangersheide gelding. He’s ridden by Lila Kimrey, who trains at Beacon Hill Show Stables.
With his big personality and even bigger heart, Nugget is like having a giant, cuddly dog in the barn. He’s incredibly affectionate—always up for hugs and kisses—and he lives to make his people happy. He’s one of the most personable horses Lila has ever known, and his charm is undeniable.
Nugget became part of Lila’s life in the most magical way—her parents surprised her with him the night she flew in for the Region 3 Maclay Regionals. She had only ridden him a few times before the show, but despite being so new to one another, they placed in the top 12, securing a spot at Maclay Finals. It was a dream come true and a testament to the instant connection between them.
Though he’s only been with Lila for a month, Nugget already feels like family. His loving nature and willingness to try his heart out make him incredibly special—and Lila can’t wait to see where their partnership takes them next.
Their favorite treat? Apples—but really, he’ll eat just about anything!
Lila has been riding for as long as she can remember. Her mom rode and showed growing up, so horses have always been a part of her life. She’s had the opportunity to ride many incredible horses and is grateful every day to train with the team at Beacon Hill. The future looks bright—and horse-filled!

Portraits for Charity was an idea Karinda dreamt up to help give back to families impacted by Childhood Cancer in memory of her husband’s sister Jessica.
