Oxford is a 7-year-old German Warmblood who resides in Austin, TX. He is owned and cared for by Blythe. The dynamic duo trains at Switch Willo Stables.

Oxford is a dapper bay gelding with a white star. He is by UT Majeure de Brecey and out of Calvados and bred by Stal Optimus. Oxford has a quiet confidence about him that is not regularly seen in a 7-year-old. He is very athletic, smart, and observant. When in his stall he seems to have a constant eye on his surroundings, not due to nerves but simply soaking it all in. He loves watching other horses, whether it’s in the ring or during turnout.

Blythe purchased him about 18 months ago and has been impressed by his low-key nature combined with his amount of scope and talent. He is a contemplative boy who steps up to any challenge asked of him with a calm, confident swagger. One of Blythe’s favorite memories is when she fell off in the warmup ring and Oxford stood right by her waiting for her to get up. She likes to think it was to protect her from getting stepped on.

Blythe began riding at the age of 8 but took a break to go through medical school and begin her career. Now, she’s found her way back to the saddle and horses she loves so much.

Did you know that ‘scope’ refers to a horse’s ability to jump efficiently? The better the horse’s scope, the better chance the horse has to jump taller and/or wider jumps as their skills progress.

Karinda K. is a Houston, TX based equine photographer that travels around the United States photographing equestrians and their horses. Karinda specializes in Outdoor Horse & Rider Portrait sessions that bring to life the magical relationship equestrians share with their horses, Senior Portraits, and Fine Art Black & White Background Portraits for those that want a piece of art featuring their very own animals. Karinda accepts a limited number of private clients each year, if you are interested in having her photograph you and your horse or an equestrian in your life, you can reach the studio by sending an email to equine@karinda(.)com or calling (832)598-8715.

Portraits for Charity was an idea Karinda dreamt up to help give back to families impacted by Childhood Cancer in memory of her husband’s sister Jessica. During the 2021 Pin Oak Charity Horse Show Karinda photographed around 140 Horses, Dogs, and even Goats, and was able to donate $10,000 to Candlelighter’s Houston. These are the stories of the Horses, Dogs, and Goats that were photographed at the show, these stories complement a photographic book that Karinda is printing and donating to Texas Children’s Hospital featuring Portraits of each and every animal she photographed.
