Bask Mania, Mania, or The Maniac is a 34-year-old Arabian Gelding. He resides at Azalea Farm in Lexington, KY.

In 2020 I set out to photograph 30 horses over the age of 30. My own horse turned 30 in 2020, and I wanted to celebrate the senior ponies in our lives that have been through extraordinary things and walked through life beside us. Our 30 over 30 Project was derailed a bit by the chaos that 2020 brought, however, I am still accepting applications for my 30 over 30 project, if you own a horse that is over the age of 30, you can apply here to be a part of the project.

Long-time owner and rider, Andrea has had the pleasure of owning Mania for the majority of his life, which was a long one! As a 34-year-old Arabian, Mania is retired now, so he and Andrea love to hang out enjoying the simple pleasures. Andrea loves spoiling him with many treats while brushing him. The pair used to show in the Arabian circuit, mostly in English/Country Pleasure and Native Costume.  Later we did lower level dressage and pleasure riding.  

Andrea’s favorite thing about Mania is his kind loving personality.  He is so incredibly sweet and absolutely loves people. He also “talks” a lot which Andrea finds adorable! The pair don’t have any really special awards or accomplishments, but have placed well in several horse shows together. Her sweetest accomplishment is having such an amazing horse who has lived such a wonderful life and she is there to make sure the rest of his days are the best days.
